Narrow Band of Internet of Things (NB-IoT) based on cellular has become an important branch of the Internet of Things. NB-IoT is built on cellular networks, consuming only about 180 KHz of bandwidth. It can be directly deployed in GSM, UMTS or LTE networks to reduce deployment costs and achieve smooth upgrades. NB-IoT supports cellular data connections of low-power devices over wide area networks, also known as low-power wide area networks (LPWA).
NB-IoT has obvious advantages in the application of the Internet of Things, which is incomparable with traditional cellular network technology and short-distance transmission technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Its coverage is wider. At the same frequency band, NB-IOT has a gain of 20 dB and a coverage area of 100 times larger than the existing network.
