ZigBee with low power consumption

 

In the low power standby mode, the 2 section 5 dry cell can support 1 nodes for 6~24 months, or even longer. This is a prominent advantage of ZigBee. Compare,

 

Bluetooth can work for several weeks, and WiFi can work for hours.

 

TI and Micropelt of Germany jointly launched the new energy ZigBee node. The node uses Micropelt’s thermoelectric generator to provide power to TI’s ZigBee.

 

Zigbee based on low cost

 

Through a simplified protocol (not to Bluetooth 1/10), reduces the communication requirements of the controller, according to the forecast analysis, 8 to 8051 microcontroller estimates, the master node full function 32KB code, sub function less nodes to 4KB code, and ZigBee patent fee free agreement. ZigBee operates at a rate of 20 to 250kbps, providing 250 Kbps (2.4GHz), 40kbps (915 MHz) and 20kbps (868 MHz) raw data throughput rates to meet the application requirements for low rate data transmission.

 

ZigBee  based on lose distance.

 

Transmission range generally between 10 ~ 100m, after the increase of transmission power, can also be increased to 1 ~ 3km. This refers to the distance between adjacent nodes. If the relay is routed and communicated between nodes, the transmission distance can be further.

 

ZigBee just short duration.

 

ZigBee’s response rate is faster, generally transferred from sleep to work, just 15ms, node connection into the network only 30ms, further save the electricity. By comparison, Bluetooth takes 3 to 10s, and WiFi requires 3 s.

 

ZigBee with high capacity

 

ZigBee can use stellate patch and mesh network structure, which is composed of a main node management sub node, at most one master node can manage 254 nodes; at the same time, the master node is also composed of a layer of network node management, most can be composed of 65000 node network.

ZigBee provides three level security model, including security settings, the use of access control list (Access Control, List, ACL) to prevent illegal access to data and using the advanced encryption standard (AES 128) of the symmetric encryption, to determine its security attributes flexibly.

Use the industrial science medical (ISM) frequency band, 915MHz (USA), 868MHz (Europe), and 2. 4GHz (global),.

 

Since the three frequency bands have different physical layers, their respective channel bandwidths are different, such as 0.6MHz, 2MHz and 5MHz. There are 1, 10, and 16 channels, respectively.
The spread spectrum and modulation modes of the three frequency bands are also different.

 

 

Spread spectrum (DSSS) uses direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), but the bit to chip conversion is quite different. Modulation methods are used phase modulation technology, but the 868MHz and 915MHz frequency band is BPSK, and the 2.4GHz frequency band adopts OQPSK.

 

 

In the case of transmit power of 0dBm, Bluetooth usually has a range of 10 meters. And ZigBee in the interior can usually reach 30-50 meters of the role of distance, in outdoor open area can even reach 400 meters (TI CC2530 without power amplification).

 

 

Therefore, ZigBee can be classified as a low rate short distance wireless communication technology.
